Highly Collectable 1960s TREMAEN Perran Pottery Lamp Base. Original Sticker

his is a very collectable lamp made by Peter Ellery at Tremaen Pottery in Cornwall, established in 1965. He produced large scale pieces, employing unconventional techniques in both construction and glazing. Sadlly, the recession of the early 1980s created increasing economic difficulties for the pottery and in 1988 Peter Ellery decided to close his wonderful  pottery.

This is a lovely pebble shaped vase in the Perran pattern. It is in perfect condition and still retains the original paper label on the base. he signature products of Tremaen are the lamp bases. The lamps were the most popular and desirable items produced by the pottery. They remain highly decorative but, more importantly, functional.

Designs for lamp bases were sometimes produced in a range of sizes, colours or glazes. On occasions, two moulds were joined together to make a taller lamp base. The lamp bases were given names with Cornish links like Lanyon, Jizal, Boscawen and Zennor.

My lamp does not have its original shade - as not many of the original hessian ones have survived . It is rare to find a Tremaen lamp with its original shade.

Good Condition with no damages: £ 125

Stunning Large Studio Stoneware Pot by CarlosVan Reigersberg-Versluys (born 1950)

The potter specialises in these gorgeous, large hand-built sculptural vessels in stoneware. Typical is the decoration, - with splashed and muted colours and with this subtle matt ash glaze. He was born in Tangiers in 1950 and spent his early years in South America and Africa.  Van Reigersberg-Versluys started potting when he set up his own studio in 1986, in Nottinghamshire, from there he moved to Bassingham in Lincolnshire in 1989. Then in 1994 he moved to Vine Farm Pottery near Stamford.

The studio stamp was used on pots that he made after 2003.

A fantastic large piece measuring  11 inches wide - and with a height of nearly 8 inches

- weights a stonking 3.3 kg

Good Condition with no damages: £ 125 (UK postage will be about £15 due to size and weight)

Diana had studied at Camberwell and then at Croydon, under the tutelage of Bridget Riley and Barry Fantoni. She completed her masters degree at the Royal College of Art, under David (Lord Queensberry). After graduating she worked for a period at the Kilkenny Design Workshop and then at Denby. In 1975 Diana and her husband set up the Crich Pottery in Derbyshire. The pottery operated for nearly 30 years, selling works to the British Arts Council, Heals, Liberty’s, as well as exporting to Japan, Norway, Germany and the States. The pottery closed in 2004 when Diana moved to Spain.

Vintage Bemersyde Pottery (near Melrose, Scotland) Pendants. All designed by Kenneth Annat (1923-1999).

Annat was artistically gifted, however not much of his early life is documented.  During the Second World War, he joined the RAF, becoming the navigator on bombing missions over Germany. He was a self-taught artist and when he was demobilised from the Forces after the Second World War, he became absorbed in drawing and painting.  For the latter part of his life, Kenneth Annat lived quietly in Bemersyde in the Scottish Borders.

These little vintage ceramic pendants are all unique in design, and are now very hard to find.

Very stylish piece of Scottish Studio Pottery - and most unusual to find a matching pair of lamps - each is signed with her usual signature beside the cable gromit.

Each lamp is in perfect condition: BOTH SOLD. Many thanks!

Margery Clinton, (1931 - 2005) was a specialist in reduction lustre glazes. She studied painting at the Glasgow School of Art from 1949 to 1953, and was part of the Young Glasgow group, whose inaugural exhibition was held at the McLellan Galleries in 1958.

Margery became involved with ceramics in the 1960s and researched reduction lustre glazes at the Royal College of Art in the early 1970s.

In 1978 she set up a workshop at Newton Port in Scotland and worked there in partnership with Jan Williamson until 1981. Margery continued there until 1995 when she moved the pottery to Dunbar, in East Lothian.

She authored “Working with Lustres” which was published by Batsford in 1991. This is an accessible treatment of the techniques used in much of her signature work.  A comprehensive inventory of her recipes and research of lustres is held by the National Library of Scotland along with her correspondence, financial records, and working papers 1969 –95.
